In the spirit Halloween,

In the cozy embrace of fall, one of my absolute favorite pastime activities is taking scenic drives with my incredible boyfriend to admire the changing leaves. He's sweet enough to pack a flask of my favorite drink, and together, we explore the town, reveling in the magical Halloween decorations that adorn houses along the way. It's moments like these that remind me that I'm blessed with the world's best boyfriend. It's the simplicity and natural connection that make me so genuinely happy.

However, I'll be honest; there's one aspect of Halloween decorations that just doesn't sit right with me

—skeletons with nooses around their necks. I understand the macabre nature of Halloween and how it plays on our deepest fears, but suggesting lynching in your yard crosses a line for me. I'm not one to vandalize or engage in mischief like smashing pumpkins or toilet-papering houses. Still, if I encounter a display featuring a noose around a skeleton, I'll likely be the one who discreetly removes that particular decoration.

I don't want to sound judgmental or offend anyone; these are just my personal feelings. I think it's important to express my viewpoint that perhaps we should reconsider the way we approach our Halloween decorations. Don't get me wrong; I absolutely adore my neighbors' homes adorned with twinkling lights, whimsical blowups, spiderwebs, witches, and beloved characters like Snoopy, Garfield, and so many more. Halloween is about embracing the spirit of fun and a bit of delightful fright—like wondering what might be lurking around the corner.

Haunted houses and spooky decorations should elicit a playful shiver, not showcase the details of how someone met their end in such a grim way. While this is all my personal perspective, I hope it serves as a gentle reminder that Halloween should be about good-natured fun and that thrill of a scare. We're all human, after all, and there's nothing wrong with that. 🍁🎃👻
