There was no way I could tell you my whole story without it sounding like a saga—so if you really wanna know what shaped me, check out my story and when your done explore the rest of my website to get more connected, more inspired, and dig more into this journey with me.

They say your hair is your crown—but what happens when that crown has been broken, burned, or barely growing at all? This isn’t just a guide to hair growth; this is my love letter to every woman who has ever stood in front of the mirror wondering what went wrong, and what could finally go right.
My hair journey has been nothing short of a roller coaster—painful, personal, and deeply spiritual. It started when I was just three years old, running carefree in the backyard of a caretaker’s home. I didn’t know what ringworm was, but I knew something wasn’t right when patches of my scalp became raw and sore. I lost follicles that never fully came back. That experience started a lifelong pattern of hair trauma and heartbreak.
From childhood to womanhood, I tried everything. I sat in kitchen chairs and salon seats. I relaxed, straightened, blow-dried, and hoped. But not even hope could save my strands when I fell asleep with a relaxer on my scalp one night and woke up to clumps of my hair falling into the sink. It was the last day of school. I walked in with a headscarf and a heavy heart, trying to hold my head up high while hiding my pain.
As I got older, I realized my hair wasn’t just dealing with external damage—it was reacting to internal battles too. Drug use, alcohol, and an overall lack of nourishment in my body took their toll. My hair never grew past my shoulders. It stayed dry, lifeless, brittle—even at its most “natural.”
But here’s the thing about struggle: it teaches you how to research, how to reflect, and eventually, how to rise.
In my 40s, I faced a new challenge—hormonal shifts and deficiencies that made my hair thinner and even more difficult to manage. That’s when I decided to stop chasing trends and start chasing truth. I journaled. I studied. I visited labs. I had conversations with hair scientists, trichologists, and wellness experts. I dug deep into the science of hair porosity, nutrient absorption, scalp circulation, and the chemistry behind what really works for textured hair like mine—and likely yours, too.
I learned that no single product is magic. Growth starts from within, but it’s supported by what we put on our crown with care, consistency, and consciousness.
Hair Science for Our Strands: The Basics That Changed Everything
Let’s break it down:
Hair Growth Is Biological, Not Just Topical. Our hair grows in cycles—anagen (growth), catagen (transition), telogen (rest), and exogen (shedding). Stress, hormones, and poor scalp health disrupt these cycles. That’s why understanding your own body—thyroid levels, hormone balance, nutritional gaps—is key.
Circulation Is Queen.Healthy blood flow feeds follicles. Scalp massages, microneedling, and warm oil treatments with circulation-boosting ingredients like rosemary or peppermint can improve nutrient delivery and stimulate growth.
Protein vs. Moisture Balance. Many naturals overload on moisture or protein without understanding their hair’s unique needs. Hair with high porosity may need more sealing oils, while low porosity may need lightweight hydration and steam to absorb products.
Hair Oils vs. Hair Tonics: What’s the Difference?
Hair Oils are usually made from fatty, nutrient-rich plant oils like jojoba, castor, or argan. They help seal in moisture, improve elasticity, and reduce breakage. Oils are great for hot oil treatments, sealing ends, and scalp massages.
Hair Tonics, on the other hand, are typically water-based or alcohol-based infusions with active botanicals like horsetail, nettle, rosemary, or green tea. Tonics are made to stimulate the scalp, refresh the roots, and boost circulation—especially when sprayed or dabbed directly onto the scalp daily.
Together, these products form a dynamic duo: tonic to wake up the scalp, oil to lock in love.
